A Day at the Park-cover-blog

A Day at the Park, written by Lucas Di Quinzio, is a picture book for grown-up kids. The ebook edition is FREE to download for a LIMITED TIME. You may even want to view a special reading of it on YouTube. See the links at the end of this blog.

If you are easily offended, don’t read it.

But if you have a sense of humour similar to mine, then you might just find yourself laughing out loud on certain pages. That’s what I found myself doing while reading the first version of this book that Lucas handed to me as his final publishing project for 2013. He was then a student in my last Professional Publishing class at a TAFE college. This July I’ve published his debut book as an OverDog Press title.

If you download the ebook, and after you’ve read all the pictures and captions, make sure you check out the author photo and bio that Lucas supplied. While writing the previous sentence, I chuckled again just at the thought of them.

Lucas has a definite “voice” as a writer. It’s not simply a matter of being able to photoshop away the innocence of pictures, but the way he has made the words and images work together.

For instance, it took me a while to spot the rather odd-looking Santa on the cover image – reprised with an appropriate caption inside. (There are a few similarly subtle touches to discover throughout the book, which you may not notice on a first read.) And can someone really dislike pandas that much?

See for yourself. You can download the ebook edition of A Day at the Park, FREE for a LIMITED TIME, as follows:
